This came at the perfect time! I was able to quickly scroll through and pick up 7 moons, severance and chemistry from the library while the kids played in the kids section! Excited! (Idk what enneagram type I am)
EEEEK such different books I love it! Chemistry was like looking into a mirror; I love that book with all my heart. 7 Moons can be difficult to get into (quite literary) but he brings it all together (such an ambitious work). Severance I read at the beginning of the pandemic and was astounded by how well Ma captured pandemic-mentality, haha. But it's less of a favorite than the other two.
I finished chemistry already - haha I read it all day and loved it too! Going to get her other book which I know you had recommended in other posts. I had read omakase in the New Yorker and felt it was sooo relatable. I just quickly grabbed whatever and was happy I was able to find these three. Will prob just work my way through these other recs on this post in subsequent library hauls. 😍🤩
I am a 2! Some things I don't like about being a 2: speaking for myself, I am very sensitive and couple that with a type of ENFP on the Myers-Briggs and it is literally true that I lose sleep thinking what did I do wrong if a particular social interaction did not go well. I do people please and I know when people don't like me and it's not a good feeling. Love is a drug for us. I am sensitive to criticism and I take things personally. Some good things? There would be no point to life if there were no love, it says it right in 1 Corinthians Book 13. I can't imagine being any other type. What are you Kristin?
Aww, thank you for sharing, Steve! Twos make the world go round...truly. I'm a 1! I like that ones are idealistic but *not* that we're perfectionists =P
Maybe the yearning for perfection is a sign that we were meant to yearn for the Perfect One... C.S. Lewis said “If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” This is something I have thought about a lot and it makes perfect sense. Yet..., there are times in my day and in my life when perfection seems complete and everything is perfect in every sense of the word, those fleeting but pointed moments... but the Joan of Arcs and the Martin Luthers of this world make our world a better place. Thanks for the post and the invitation Kristin! Fun stuff.
Yes, you're right!! That yearning for something better is real and deep. Just need to stop being a perfectionist about the stuff that doesn't matter lol.
3w2 ✋🏽
love it! 1w2 here 🫶
